Initial 3 Ideas

Original out of body experience idea (Idea we decided to use)

Original running/fear/animal influenced video

Original cowboy/western music video idea

Conclusion
Making more than one idea was an important task as it gave us a chance to plot out one of each type of music video i.e performance or conceptual. The idea creating was however difficult as when you write them onto paper you realise than many ideas that are inside your head are near impossible to actually create on camera. This is why we went with the idea we chose as it gives us a lot of freedom but is also do-able to a much higher standard than the other ideas

Pitch Recording

This is a recording of our pitch for our final idea. This task was very beneficial as recording the pitch allows us to have an easy to understand and view way of remembering our ideas but also during the evaluation stage it will make it simple for us to come back and see what we have changed or improved upon in the time between then and when we made this pitch. Recording the pitch shows how difficult it is to get ideas across verbally rather than just having them in your own mind, i feel however that it is a key skill as ideas will need to be portrayed to actors and without the practice of pitching it may be hard for them to understand what ideas are trying to be conveyed. Recording our own pitch is a very effective method as it allows us to evaluate ourselves.

Track Timecode and Structure

We time-coded the song so that we could know the basic structure of the music and when significant changes in it occur. This was one of the most important research and planning tasks as knowing the key changes in both tempo and mood of the music are key to our planning of our video so we know at what time different themes of the video should kick in. Our song had a very odd structure with the largest section of the song being a solo and instrumental section, this gave us great freedom in terms of what we could do with our video however the chorus of the song only being played through once meant that it was harder to time-code as there was a lot of debate as to whether it was another verse or a chorus. However the significant change in pitch and feel of the section led to a unanimous decision that it was a chorus.

Target Audience Moodboard

I created this moodboard with pictures that i obtained from the internet. It accurately represents the target audience that our artist is aiming for. Our artist is not gender specific so they appeal to both men and women. the age range for our artist is 18-24 years of age as then fans will be a similar age to the artists themselves creating a relationship between artist and fan-base. Also the style of music being performed is going to appeal most strongly to an audience falling under that age range. The audience is demonstrated through photos of crowds that fall inside the age category but also through other bands that the audience for Rivera will most probably enjoy. Our target audience are Alternative/Rock fans as they will share the image that Rivera promote and will also enjoy the music.

Conceptual Moodboard

This is a conceptual moodboard for our music video. the moodboard conveys most of the major themes within the video and gives off an idea of what the tone of the video will be like. The strong feel of abnormality and surrealism that we need in our music video is conveyed well in the moodboard through both the psychedelic patterns but also the harsh lighting and surreal locations that the character will be visiting. The variety of locations shows the mental state of the character once he has left his body, this is accurately presented through the moodboard. In conclusion this task was beneficial as it made it possible to clearly define and express the concept for our video in an easy to undertsand format.

Website Analysis and Inspiration

Arcade Fire - Reflector Website

-We've chosen to analyse Arcade Fire's website as it has themes that we would like to use and could transpose onto our own website when we create it. The simple layout of the website has a barebones feel that we feel would be ideally suited to our band as it focuses on the music rather than selling for image or fame. the website has a continuous font present on all pages and we feel this would be effective for our website as on the bands current page they have a font theme that we could carry over when we create our site. the Arcade Fire website is flawed however as it does not tell anything about the band, it simply has an embedded version of the video, some brief info and then all the ways in which the album can be purchased. I feel that on our website we should include more about the band themselves so that a relationship can be created with the audience as i feel that the arcade fire website gives a cold feel that we do not want to give off on our website.

A compilation of screenshots from the website

Conclusion
In conclusion i feel that this task gave us a greater understanding of what creates a good website as when we first viewed arcade fires website we thought t was exactly how we wanted ours to look but then upon further investigation we realised that the website did not provoke any involvement with the band and therefore wasn't what we wanted to a full extent. The website we analysed gave us a good foundation for what we will be creating but outlined also well outlined the additions that we could make to make our website better and more effective.

Digipack Analysis and Inspiration

The Stone Roses - The Very Best of The Stone Roses
- The Stone Digipack well represents their band and style of music whilst still being effortlessly attractive. The white background and multicoloured artwork gives a crisp clean feel but also allows the psychedelic side of the music to be portrayed through the digipack. The artwork used in this digipack heavily influences our digipack as this psychedelic image is one that suits our band and their music very well and the idea of a white background gives the album a very positive feel and makes it more attractive to potential buyers who are yet to hear the bands music. It is a good idea for a digipack as it does not convey any radical ideals such as System of a Downs "Steal This Album"which therefore makes it appealing to a wider audience despite just our target range of 18-24 year olds.

Conclusion
Studying the Stone Roses digipack was a very important task as it properly showed us how much of a hard task creating the digipack would be. It also however gave us a better understanding of how to create one so that when it came to the time in which we need to make ours we are prepared. Taking influence from the Stone Roses in our own digipack will be effective as Stone Roses themselves and our band Rivera both use long ringing notes in many of their songs and the Stone Roses digipack accurately represents this so we want to create the same feel with our own.

(There were additional images of the whole digipack rather than simply the front cover however they would not send to the computer. We will try and resolve this issue as soon as possible)
